It’s been almost one week since the weather started behaving more like spring. And to enjoy the warm, fuzzy sun, I headed to the French capital to explore it by foot. Today I present you the best things to do in Paris during Spring.
Last year we had Japanese friends coming to France, so we had to come up with an original circuit for them. And still check out some Parisian clichés. Well, this post was inspired by our friends too. But I’ve taken out the clichés such as the Tour Eiffel, Sacré Coeur, and so on.
Best things to do in Paris during Spring
Please keep in mind that this is not a walking tour. It highlights the interesting, non-clichés spots to see around Paris during Spring.
Visit the parks in Paris and around
If you wonder what are the outdoor things to do in Paris, search no more! The Parisian parks offer a fresh breeze in the concrete jungle.
Visit Parc des Buttes Chaumont, a park in 19th Arrondissement, where you can walk around a lake, discover a cascade, visit temple Sybille on top of a high rock or simply have a picnic on the hills of the park.
You can also visit Parc Floral de Vincennes, for a chance to discover Château de Vincennes, a historic monument that today serves as headquarters for the French armed forces.
Another important park in Paris area is Parc de Sceaux, and the best time to visit is in Spring time, in march-april, when all the cherry trees are in blossoms. It’s became a tradition to have a picnic of cheese, baguette and wine under the delicate cherry blossoms.
Visit Paris through the hidden covered passages
There are many covered passages in Paris, but most of them are concentrated in the 2nd arrondissement. The advantage is that not all tourists know about these passages.
With a luxurious interior and high glass arcades, these passages host many luxury or antiquity boutiques, restaurants, souvenir shops and everything you can imagine.
If you don’t have time for all of them, visit at least Galerie Vivienne, one of the most the most iconic and luxurious covered arcades in Paris. The advantage is that it’s located right next to Palais-Royal, an important landmark for visitors.
Go see the Parisian Gardens
A safe bet for finding diversity in blooming flowers is the Botanical Garden (Jardin des Plantes) located at Paris Austerlitz station. You can admire here in spring time one of the most impressive white cherry trees, of over 100 years old.
One of my favourite things to do in Paris during Spring is to visit Jardin du Palais Royal. A beautiful masterpiece of flowers. All around the garden, the columns surround the area and give it a cozy vibe.
If you enjoy summer and the colours that come with it, here’s further inspiration on French cities to visit in Spring:
- Visit Nantes and its Botanical Garden full of tulips and other colourful flowers
- Go to Amiens and enjoy all the cherry blossoms around the city
