Expressing my gratitude: Love letter for Europe

Living in Europe my entire life, made me who I am. And being the person I am today wouldn’t have been possible without the diversity Europe is offering. Europe is the equivalent of the American dream thirty years ago. People can choose their own life, what they want to become and how they participate to enrich their community. For the past 5 years I’ve been living in France, the country I’ve been dreaming of ever since I was little. Today’s post is something unusual, but I really want to express my gratitude for being able to be who I am. Here’s my love letter for Europe.

Love letter for Europe

Dear Europe,

I love you, for a start. You give me so much inspiration, connect me with amazing people, introduce me to your delicious cuisines, visit your breathtaking landscapes and this letter is for you.

We have the right to an education

Europe, you gave me the right to study and my background I built in Romania is the foundation brick of who I am. You offered me the possibility to pursue my studies with internships in engineering in universities from Slovakia and Portugal. These were amazing opportunities also for my social life, because I got to make friends from tens of countries across Europe. In the last year of Bachelor’s and Master’s I’ve been able to move to France twice for several months. And I fell even more in love with this country. None of this wouldn’t have been possible without your unity and diversity.

We have the possibility to live where we want

Europe, there have been also difficult times, when, due to poverty, we had to search for a better life for ourselves. But, Europe, this is the beauty with you, you offer us solutions too. My family is now living all over across Europe, because they got the possibility to choose where they would like to build a better life for themselves. Now I can visit my families in countries like Romania, Spain, England and Germany, myself being an expat in France. And I haven’t even started with my friends!

We have access to water

Europe, another thing I love about you is that you gave us the fundamental right to clean water. It’s so fulfilling to stroll the ancient roman streets in a hot, dry summer day and just turning the building’s corner you find a fountain with fresh water. In Greece we found drinking water too. In the parks, in general, we are able to find fountains with drinking water. Thank you!

We have good food

Europe, the food you provide is delicious! I don’t even know where to start! Your fresh vegetables are the best! The fruits and olives from south of Europe, are sublime, the fish and sea fruits are delicious and the French bread is the most delicious bread I’ve started eating. We still need to make efforts for our clean food, but the Green Labels are already on the good path. I choose meat, eggs and dairy products from animals that are treated with respect. Because I want you to continue providing good stuff for me, my family and my friends.

We have the possibility to discover

Europe, did I tell you how glad I am that I am able to visit you? To discover your cities, your people, your cuisine? That’s why I made this blog in the first place! Before visiting far away countries, I started close, with your countries. And friends and family wanted to know more about you, throughout my travels.

Love,
